Preschool

Our preschool utilizes an open-ended curriculum that is child-centered and lends to the natural development and sequence of learning - one that takes its direction from the child's needs rather than a prescribed timetable. It addresses how a young child learns as well as what he or she should learn.

Developmentally appropriate practices, as outlined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), form the foundation of our curriculum design that is geared to the unique make-up of the children in class each year. St Peter and St. Paul Preschool has been NAEYC accredited since 1991. This voluntary national program sets and monitors standards for high quality programs for young children.

The school includes the following areas of emphasis:

Religion

Faith formation of young children is a work in progress. Ideas about God and His word are integrated into daily classroom lessons and activities. Church liturgies are acknowledged in an age-appropriate manner.

Math

Math curriculum uses a manipulative approach.

Reading and Writing

Written and verbal skills are developed on an individual basis.

Language Arts

All language arts encompass a whole language approach.

Learning Styles

Multi-sensory experiences are the best way for young children to learn.

Play

Play is essential to learning. Our preschool students learn through play to test, discover, explore, adapt, classify, organize, and recognize their experiences through their play.

Extracurricular Activities

Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.
